2 Corinthians 9:6-8, “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
Faithful financial stewardship involves both wealth generation and wealth generosity.
God gives us the capacity to generate wealth so that we can be generous with the wealth He enabled us to generate.
It undermines any false confidence in ourselves and any false hope in the fickle nature of wealth. It creates real gratitude, makes us rich in good deeds, and sets our sights on storing up eternal treasures that won’t perish, spoil or fade.
Even more so, we are only able to give freely, cheerfully and sacrificially as we grow in our wonder of how God has given His Son, His treasure, to us—freely, cheerfully and sacrificially.
